Concern‌ ‌Over‌ ‌Your‌ ‌Personal‌ ‌Appearance‌ ‌Is‌ ‌Normal‌ ‌and‌ ‌ Okay

Men are not supposed to be concerned about their personal appearance, right? Wrong. Not only is it normal to be concerned, but it is also okay. Taking pride in one's personal appearance is beneficial provided it's kept in perspective. As long as it's not obsessive, wanting to demonstrate a professional appearance is a good thing.

We created our state-of-the-art waterproof shoe covers for that very reason. Professional men don't want to ruin the image they work so hard to create by entering a room with wet, dirty, salt-stained shoes. In order to protect their shoes, they wear some sort of weather-resistant cover. GC Tech shoe covers now set the standard for all the rest.

Not Just a Women's Issue

Western culture has historically believed that women are more concerned about their personal appearance than men. Whether or not that was true a hundred years ago is a matter of debate. It's certainly not true today. According to a 2016 study looking at more than 12,000 adults between 18 and 65 years of age, men are just as likely to be concerned about their appearance as women.

In terms of what generates feelings of satisfaction, men ranked positive body perception second behind financial stability. Women ranked it third behind financial stability and romantic opportunities. Just 24% of the surveyed men admitted to being satisfied with their weight.

It is clear that men are just as concerned about what they look like. It might not be manly to admit it, but there is no denying the concern is real. If it weren't, there wouldn't be such a strong market for men's personal care items.

Making the Effort to Look Good

We cannot stress enough that all of this is normal. We can debate the level at which one's concern over personal appearance becomes unhealthy, but we are never going to change nature. We are never going to reach the point where people are not concerned about personal appearance. It is part of the human psyche.

Having said all that, making the effort to look good does pay off in professional settings. There is a reason the most successful professionals dress the way they do. Business suits and professional dresses get results. They project authority and earn respect.

Unfortunately, all of one's efforts to project that professional appearance can be ruined by dirty shoes. You may not realize it, but people do notice shoes – especially when they are in rough shape. You can be dressed to the nines and still blow it by wearing a pair of shoes covered with salt stains.

Protect Your Shoes in All Weather

So how do you avoid ruining your appearance with dirty shoes? One option is to carry a pair of old sneakers you can change into whenever you go outside. But if you are like most people, you really don't want to carry an extra pair of shoes around. You also do not want the hassle of constantly changing your shoes every time you have to go for a walk.

A better solution is a pair of waterproof shoe covers. Better yet, a pair of shoe covers from GC Tech offers maximum weather resistance in a modern package that is lightweight and breathable. Our shoe covers protect against rain, snow, salt, and general dirt and debris. Put a pair on and you will arrive at your destination with clean and dry shoes.

If you are a man concerned about your personal appearance, you're normal. Don't stress over it. Just get yourself a good pair of shoe covers so that dirty shoes don't ruin things.
